This week
for the Monday Six, I have the chance to sit down with the famous Doug of Ghostly Talk. You can listen to Ghostly Talk on Sunday nights from 6pm to 9pm EST!
1) I am sure you have many, but what is one of your favorite guests?
I have enjoyed every guest, but Bill Knell really knocked my socks off. I contacted him because he was writing articles for paranormalnews.com about Montauk and the Philadelphia Experiment. I was fascinated and asked him on the show. I don’t know what I expected, but I can say that Mr. Knell raised the bar that night.
2) When did you become interested in the paranormal?
As long as I can remember, paranormal things were woven into my life. I grew up in the heyday of Jane Roberts, Ed and Lorraine Warren, and Uri Geller. Back in that day and age, single family incomes were the norm and the neighborhood moms would have coffee and occasionally talk about what they’d seen, read, and heard about the paranormal. I picked up on it and have been hooked ever since.
3) What is the best part of being part of Ghostly Talk?
I’m a people person. The show allows me to talk not only to guests, but to ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts rather easily. Oftentimes, I get to skip the awkward introduction part of meeting people. The drawback to that, though, is when someone thinks I know them because they got to know me from listening to Ghostly Talk. But I roll with it because I find something fascinating in pretty much everyone I meet.
4) What is your favorite paranormal book?
Now, now. You know I know many authors of
pararnormal books. Each is deserving of praise and recognition. Look at all the time, research, and love that goes into authoring a book. I cannot pick a favorite, per se, but I will take this opportunity to mention one particular book that I enjoyed very much. You see, I knew nothing of the author and little of the topic, so Rosemarie Pilkington’s The Spirit Of Dr. Bindelof came as quite a pleasant surprise. After talking to her on the show, I knew I was hooked on the topic. I bought the book within the next week and enjoyed it.
5) Say for some unforeseen reason Ghostly Talk ends, do you see yourself doing anything more in the paranormal world?
Of course Ghostly Talk will end some day. Hopefully that day is a ways off. Even though the show will end, my interest in the paranormal will not. Nor will the friendships I’ve formed. Nor will my passion for meeting, talking to, and enjoying other paranormal enthusiasts. In 2007, I went to The Southern Wisconsin Paranormal Conference not as a co-host of Ghostly Talk, but as myself. I’ll do that kind of thing post-GT.
6) Whats the ‘coolest’ thing that has happened to you because of Ghostly Talk?
I wish I could say, “met my soul mate,” like Scott L undoubtedly would say. But I cannot. I can say I formed two of the best, deepest, and most rewarding friendships because of Ghostly Talk. I’m talking about Scott L as one of them and Shaun Burris as the other. (I met Bonnie through ghost hunting, not as a result of or a precursor to the show…but if I don’t mention her in this list, I’ll become what ghost hunters are looking for sooner rather than later.) So the ‘coolest’ thing is the people it has brought into my life–including many people I cannot list in a paragraph.
